NEWS LETTER - October 2021

In 2020 no one knew that a worldwide Covid pandemic was getting ready to make its presence. Well, it did and did so with a vengeance.

After our January MLK rodeo, the BPIR tour was placed on pause as we all struggled to stay safe while Covid was ravaging our communities with sickness and death. Our world, as we knew it, was changing.

During the month of November, we become anxious as the weather changes, we realize Thanksgiving is almost here, Christmas is around the corner and the year nears its end. There are so many things for us to think about and prepare for.

NEWSLETTER- Sept 2019 - Finale

On Saturday night, September 21st at Prince's George Show Place Arena in the DC/Upper Marlboro at the BPIR Championship Finals, the 2019 BPIR Tour came to an end. The BPIR tour traveled to Denver, CO., Memphis,TN., Oakland, CA., Los Angeles, CA., and Atlanta, GA. while celebrating its 35th anniversary to sold out crowds to determine which top ten competitors would make it to the Championship finals.

We are in the Month of September, which brings us a couple of activities such as the transition from the Summer season into Fall, the return to school and college for many, celebration of Labor Day; the most exciting to me, is the Championship Rodeo Finals for the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo.

July is the month Americans celebrate Independence Day; the historic vote and signing of the Declaration of Independence took place to make the United States an independent country. July is also the month that the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo (BPIR) celebrates its 35thAnniversary in California. First we will ride into the Bay Area and then off to Los Angeles.

As the months in this year continue to pass quickly, I realize July will soon be upon us and we are getting ready to head West to the Bay Area and the Los Angeles area to continue our 35th Anniversary Celebration! We always enjoy the beautiful state of California and the incredible crowd support in both markets. In Oakland, we love being at Rowell Ranch, which sits between the mountains and provides an incredible atmosphere for a rodeo.

The Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo continues to travel to various cities across the United States as a family friendly entertainment event. As we celebrate our 35th anniversary, we continue to pride ourselves on building a family of love, both inside and outside the arena. When the rodeo started 35 years ago, it started with many Black cowboys and cowgirls from all over the US, where some knew each other but most didn’t. As a result of traveling with BPIR and growing together, many friendships were formed and now it is one big happy rodeo family.
